Planning your cat-proof garden: 3 zones

Terrace zone

Many people have a terrace or patio next to their home. It’s a place where you and your cat can enjoy the shade together and take in the view of the cat-proof garden. A cat tree, various baskets, and beds can be placed there to allow your cat to choose where to sleep and rest. However, sometimes your cat may also choose your favorite chair.

Relaxation zone

It can also be called a play area. It is best if this area is located next to the patio so that you can watch your cat while sitting at the table and enjoying delicious berries, for example. You can plant or place plants that attract your cat in this area, or create a “sand bath.” During the dry summer season, you can also bring indoor toys, tunnels, or scratching posts outside.

Hiding zone

This space should be located at the back of the garden, where it is quiet. Cats value their privacy and sometimes want to be invisible for a while. In hot weather, cats also like to sleep under large bushes that provide them with sufficient shade. It may therefore be a good idea to plant a few large raspberry bushes at the back of the garden. In addition, a “toilet area” can be set up near the zone.
