This cultivar was bred at the same time as the now popular cultivar “Mieze Schindler.” The “Deutsche Gewürzerdbeere” was considered to have a better flavor than the “Mieze Schindler,” but for some reason, it was never marketed. This variety produces only female flowers and therefore requires another variety for pollination. Its fruits are very flavorful and have a soft texture.
