Your cat’s breed, age and personality matter
Creating a reliable cat-proof fence can be challenging for owners of young, active, and strong cats. However, even if your cat is older and can no longer jump high, that doesn’t mean your cat-proof fence can be lower or less secure. Remember that your goal is not only to prevent your cat from escaping, but also to protect her or him from stray cats and neighbors’ cats.

Take a broader vieuw
Cat owners are sometimes so focused on creating a cat-proof fence that they forget about small buildings, trellis and trees located too close to the fence. That’s why, for the first two weeks after creating a cat-proof garden, don’t leave your cat alone to see if he or she tries to find ways to escape.

Regular maintenance is essential
As you can see in the photo, the net has sagged under the weight of the snow and has even partially detached from one of the metal supports. It therefore had to be repaired and re-tensioned without delay. Don’t forget to inspect your cat fence regularly for weak spots, otherwise your cat will do it for you.
